F-100 Super Sabre Specs
The F-100 Super Sabre, one of the sleek "century series" fighters served for almost 20 years as one of Americas frontline fighters. This 1950's designed fighter served into 1971 fighting in the Vietnam war. This hard to fly, but fast fighter was the first fighters capable of super sonic flight in level flight. This ability also caused many problems. It led to a rather high stall speed and caused the loss of many Super Sabres.
Despite design flaws the fast and powerful F-100 continued to be upgraded and had such progressive features as a super sonic capable autopilot system and low level bombing capablities. The F-100 was even the aircraft of choice of the USAF Thunderbirds from 1964 to 1968.
