A-6 Intruder Specs

The A-6 Intruder has proven itself to be one of the best all-weather attack aircraft that has served in the US military. For many years it served as the attack wing of the US Navy's carrier force. It was one of the first aircraft to incorporate Laser guided weapons and forward looking infra-red (FLIR). It also had an integrated microminiaturized digital computer.

The A-6 saw action in many instances including the anti-terrorist attack in 1986 in Libya and Vietnam. What makes this aircraft amazing is the fact that it carries no guns. The brave pilots who flew these planes had a choice from many different types of weapons. It could carry Laser Guided bombs, rockets, traditional bombs, and missiles. The Intruder was retired in early 1997.
